How We Charge
At MS HEATING AND PLUMBING, we think you should know what a job costs before you book it. Below are our fixed-price packages, our hourly rates and our emergency charges across Birmingham and Solihull. Our preferred approach
Fixed-Price Quote
Wherever we can, we give you a fixed price for the agreed work before we start. You know the cost in advance, however long the job takes. Send us photos on WhatsApp or by email and we’ll come back to you with a price.
Hourly Labour Rate
Some jobs can’t be priced until we’ve seen the problem, like fault finding, leak tracing and emergencies. For these, our hourly rates below apply: a first-hour charge, then each extra 30 minutes.
Hourly rates cover labour only. Materials, parts and any extra work are charged separately, and we always explain them and agree them with you before we go ahead. No hidden charges.

For plumbing and heating call-outs, diagnostics and fault finding between 8:30am and 5pm, any day of the week.

Specialist Leak Trace & Access
Finding a hidden leak is specialist work, whether it’s a water leak anywhere in your home or a leak in your central heating that keeps making your boiler lose pressure. We use thermal imaging, acoustic listening and electronic leak detection to find the source, and open up concealed pipework only where we need to.

Leak trace is an investigation service. The charge is for our labour to find the leak. It doesn’t include:
- Repairing the leak
- Replacement materials
- Reinstatement and making good
- Plastering, tiling, decorating and other remedial work, which we quote separately
Once we’ve found the leak, we explain the repair and agree its price with you before any work starts.
Emergency Call-Outs, 24/7
We answer emergency calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The rate depends on when we attend.

- Daytime priority: between 8:30am and 5pm we aim to be with you within 90 minutes. If we can’t make it within 90 minutes, our standard rate applies. If it can wait for our next available slot, the standard rate applies anyway.
- If a job runs from one period into the next, each part is charged at the rate for that time. For example, a job that starts overnight and runs past 8:30am is charged at the standard rate from 8:30am.
- The same rates apply on Sundays and bank holidays.
- Emergency charges are for labour only. Materials, replacement parts and any extra agreed work are charged separately.
- Emergency attendance depends on engineer availability.
- All prices include VAT.

The same times apply every day, including Sundays and bank holidays. Emergency calls answered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Questions About Our Prices
Do you charge for a quote?
No. Send us photos on WhatsApp or by email and we’ll come back to you with a price. For repairs and faults, call us first on 0121 709 0000 so we can understand the problem.
What’s the difference between a fixed price and the hourly rate?
A fixed price is agreed for the specified work before we start, so it doesn’t change with how long the job takes. The hourly rate is for work we can’t price until we’ve seen it, such as fault finding, leak tracing and emergencies.
Are materials included?
In our fixed-price packages, yes, everything listed is included. With the hourly rates, materials and parts are extra, and we agree them with you before we fit them.
Will I be charged for anything I haven’t agreed?
No. Any extra work, materials or parts are explained and agreed with you before we go ahead.
Does the leak trace charge include the repair?
No. Leak trace and access covers finding the leak. We’ll explain the repair and agree its price with you before we start.
Do your prices include VAT?
Yes. Every price on this page includes VAT.
