Concealed Cistern Replacement in Solihull

The problem

A customer in Solihull had a leak under her concealed cistern. An emergency plumber came out and tried to fix it with temporary push-fit fittings, but didn’t check the repair properly once he’d finished. The next day, it was leaking from the same place again.

Assessment

We spent time talking with her to understand the problem and answer her concerns. After reviewing her photos, we visited to inspect the cistern and the pipework underneath. We also promised that she wouldn’t pay a penny upfront until the work was fully completed and she was happy with it.

What we found

The concealed cistern was around 15 years old. Its internal mechanisms had failed through general wear and tear, and the plastic was in poor condition. Replacing individual parts would only have been a short-term fix, so we recommended a brand-new unit and new copper pipework for a reliable, long-lasting result.

The work carried out

Communication. We confirmed the schedule a couple of days before the job, and called about half an hour before arriving.
Protecting the home. We laid dust sheets around the work area and where our tools were kept.
Removal. We disconnected the old plastic push-fit pipework, then dismantled and removed the concealed cistern.
New cistern. We fitted a high-quality concealed cistern with new parts.
Copper pipework. We replaced the plastic push-fit pipework with copper, so there are no temporary fittings left behind the wall.
Resealing. The silicone around the WC was coming away, so we resealed it free of charge.
Testing and handover. We tested everything, left the area clean and tidy, and showed the customer the finished work.

We kept her informed before, during and after the job, so she always knew what we were doing and why.

Outcome

The customer was over the moon with the work and how professionally it was carried out. She has already booked us for another job.
